So they don't become a vampire, or ghoul or mindless slave or anything?

[Obviously if it was like a blood donation enough wouldn't be taken to kill the person, but it seemed like something always happened to those who weren't killed by a vampire feeding on them. Then again the movies also said they burst into flames in the sun. . .]
