Video 005 (accidental) - Afternoon Delight

[ The brunette is seen sitting at a large wooden desk and leaning into a high back cushioned chair, reading a book. The feed seemed to be taken from some kind of study. Shelves of books were in the background and other miscellaneous items. On the surface of the desk there are other books, sitting away to the side. The titles are not in view as if Kamui has some anticipation that he would be interrupted or someone might walk in. Kamui seems very engrossed in reading, his eyes unwavering from the printed page, flipping pages with a timed precision.

Not too far from Kamui was a familiar cup. The contents of the cup could not be seen from the camera but it was definitely hot, steam sailing up from it. It seemed normal enough except for the festive and minty addition to his drink. There was a candy cane sticking out of the substance leaning on the edge of the cup.

Every now them, his hand come up to stir the substance around, using the cane as makeshift stirring spoon before taking a sip of it and setting it back down on the desk. His eyes never moving away from the book. Then suddenly his eyes looked toward the door, a hand closing the book promptly,and it only takes a few moments before the sound of a door opening and a voice is heard. The feed ends there.]

Their voice... [ If that ever happened for him... he wouldn't be surprised if he lost his hearing. That would be a rather cruel thing to lose, considering he relied on it so much since his vision was rapidly deteriorating. ] That would be troublesome. But I suppose if you don't lose your life... you have to give up something. [ If only for awhile. ]

[ Itachi's red eyes glimpsed down to where the cup was. ]

...Its good to know the cup isn't hidden away in a box.

...nothing in this world comes free. There's always a price. [Kamui knew that for a fact.

The vampire followed Itachi's eyes to the cup, he looks to it briefly. Even being nice to bring closer into the camera view.]

...being hidden away in a box wouldn't do it justice. Especially for this cup, it would seem as if I'm placing it in a cage.

A good thing it has a home, then. [ He's glad his using it. He had thought something practical would suit him. ]

...What are you reading about?

Reading? [ Kamui looks to the book, which he had to hide under the desk because of his visitor. He places back on the desk. The title reads,"How to choose a pet and other things to consider when bringing a new pet home."] ...I'm doing research.

....You want a pet, Kamui-san? [ Kamui didn't seem like the... pet type, but he didn't know him very well, so who was he to judge? ]

...it's not for me.

But it'll be living here, where I live, so I figured it was good to be informed.

[ Well, good to know he was a better judge of character than Kamui had him thinking for a moment there. Itachi nodded. ] You have a roommate, then. [ Maybe it was the person Kamui had come to collect medicine for... ]

...Roommate? More like housemate. [And it was the same person.] I stay in a manor with two others.

Oh... [ So he was living with a good amount of people, then. ] I see.

[ Speaking of others... ]

...I.. apologize in advance. Takuma-san said he was going to invite you to a... tea party. Don't feel obligated to attend... its my fault he is inviting you. [ That and Takuma is just whimsical like that, but he feels like its his fault. ]

...The tea party?[Oh yea that.] He already invited to it. I don't really think I'll be much company, but I'll go.

No need to apologize, he drags me to all sorts of things. And if not this, then they'll be something else.

[Taking a drink from the cup.]...so you've gotten acquainted with Takuma, then? That's good.

He's... kind. And...

...My brother is staying with them... so I owe him a lot, as well.

[Nods.]Yes...he is.

At least, you two are getting along. And I can assure you that Sasuke is in very good and capable hands.

[Though, Kamui couldn't help but wonder why Itachi wasn't taking care of Sasuke himself. He didn't know of the rift between them, so it seemed pretty weird from an outsider.]...but I have been wondering why Sasuke isn't living with you?

[He remembered that when he went to get the medicine from the ninja did mention that Sasuke was in another room also ailing from the sickness. But why wasn't that the case now?]

[ Itachi stared into the video for a moment in silence. There was a bit of a sigh, and, the Uchiha leaned back into the video. It became obvious he was sitting on his black leather couch now as he sank back into the crevice that melded the back and the arm together. ]

[ Itachi's red eyes looked away from the video, his expression obviously sad. ]

...He hates me, for something I did back in our world.

[ Kamui watches Itachi silently, it was obvious not a comfortable subject, and he kind of regretted bringing it up. But he was sure the shinobi was expecting it to come up sooner or later.

But to hate your own brother, Itachi must have done something great for Sasuke to push him away like that. He wasn't going to ask what it was. None of his business, and the ninja was already distraught about it.]

...I see. [Choosing his words carefully.] But is it really okay with you that he's living with someone else? With people you hardly know?

I've attempted to have him stay with me... but he has made his intentions clear. [ Itachi shook his head. ] ...I need to respect his space. As for hardly knowing them...

...I trust Sasuke's judgement. He was forced to live alone when he was very young, so... the fact he willingly stays with them speaks volumes for their character. And...

I know he is able to take care of himself. [ Though his tone of voice was slightly put out. He wished he could be a bigger part in Sasuke's life. But, it would take time. ]

You sound as if you have similar worries. Do you have a younger sibling, Kamui-san?

...I can understand that. [ And he really could, just in a different way, different circumstance.

But what catches him off guard is Itachi figuring out that he truly did understand the other in some way. to be able to figure that he had a younger sibling, even. Was it that obvious?]

...I do. I have a younger twin brother.

A twin... [ Twins were pretty rare where he came from, though... in the end, all of the Uchihas were just riddled with like genes, so everyone looked as if they could be the other's sibling. ] ...You seem like a good older brother.

[ Twins were pretty rare where he came from too, it was kind of even frowned upon and seen as an omen of some sort. But Kamui never allowed that to bother him much.]

...I try to be. [Kamui sighs, not at all pleased by the turn of events that have happened.]...Itachi, too. I don't think I would be able to do what you are for Sasuke.

[ Itachi's knees pulled up to his chin as he spoke into the Dreamberry. ]

...Brothers have a special bond... they are more than flesh and blood. And as older brothers... we will always be there for them, even if only an an obstacle to overcome. Even through hatred.

...That is what big brothers are for.

[Kamui is silent once more, hair falling over his eyes. He agreed with what Itachi said, but for him it greater than that. His existence was very dependent on Subaru's, as much as his younger brother's existence was dependent on his.]

...that's encouraging, I thought I was the only one who felt that way.

But that's who I am, and who'll always be.

[ Itachi felt the same--he didn't think there was anyone else who felt like this. Sometimes, he knew his decision-making bordered on insanity, but... it had been the only way he knew how to protect him. The Uchiha fell silent, as if in agreement. ]

[ There was a good pause, before he spoke again. ]

...Is there something you'd like at the... tea party?

No. Takuma did offer to make me coffee, but I don't mind having tea.

As for anything else, no need. I'm sure whatever Takuma will have, will be good.

All right. [ And he nods. ] ...I'll see you on Monday, then. [ He trusted that Kamui remembered where he lived. ]

...Monday.

[ Kamui ends the feed.]
