Well, I would think it would be less awkward to invite someone that both Itachi-san and I knew. He hasn't been to a tea party before and he seems to like sweets, so I wanted to give him that experience.
Not only that, but I think you'd be good company. Anyone else, I think Itachi-san might become uncomfortable.
And I could make you a pot of coffee instead of tea. It's versatile that way.
