[Many terrible things? What the hell had those two talked about?
All Subaru had said was the holiday sucked for those who didn't have someone. And Kurogane agreed. Hell it sucked even if someone did. It was annoying and seemed excessive. There was something to be said of Subaru's logic, one shouldn't need a day special made to recognize something that shouldn't be taken for granted for to begin with.
But something else must have been said as well. Whatever it was was between the brothers though and not his business. Especially as Kurogane gets a feeling from the snap and harsh words that it was messy and that maybe he should have left well enough alone after all.
Last time he does the vampire a favor, debt or no debt.
He gives Kamui a look like he doesn't intend to be his whipping boy out of convenience before replying.] Tch. You know how those cards work, he didn't get a damn choice in the matter. [Besides, if what Subaru said was all coming from some place of truth? It was past time for it to come out. Living a lie and life of blind sacrifice was just about the most pointless thing that guy could be doing.]
But if you want more advice? Keep in mind you're going to have to live with whatever you do or say just as long. [So maybe be careful about burning those bridges so fast, vampire.]
[Well this went a lot further than his brother's PSA. Kamui agreed with the general argument. One shouldn't take what you have for granted. A day shouldn't be used to truly reveal how you feel about a person,it should be celebrated everyday. Kamui actually had someone to call his own, and he trying to do just that.
But Kamui didn't think it was Subaru's place to stand upon a soapbox and address it. In fact, it was totally unlike his brother to do such a thing. Even if he felt strongly about something it that was not Subaru's way.]
...Don't you think I know that already? [ Kamui responds to Kurogane's advice. However his tone isn't as harsh as it once were, but his gaze is still cold. If Kurogane wanted to show he wasn't going to take his lashings, very well...he understood that they've been pretty cordial with each other. He didn't want that ruined over something as childish as misguided rage. Still...
Those words did strike a core. Perhaps not enough to anger, but it was enough to remind Kamui of what happened. The coldness from his eyes falters, and appear remorseful.] It's because of what I said that Subaru---
[Somehow Kamui manages to pull it back enough before he revealed too much. He didn't need to be saying any of this, especially to Kurogane, this didn't involve him. The vampire manages to compose himself.]
...I am grateful that you don't think ill of my brother and have come to his defense. [ He knew a lot of people was giving Subaru a hard time for his opinions, and Kamui was sure people would be shunning him for his own words as well.] Still...you are ignorant of the events that transpired between us, and you should drop this.
[This wasn't even meant to be in Subaru's defense at all, but... yeah, he wanted no part of whatever had happened between those two. Not after seeing the mix of emotions flickering over the vampire's face, all too easy to see even as he tried to reign them in.
This wasn't Kurogane's business at all.]
Wasn't my intention to get involved to start with, so don't worry about that. I don't plan on doing so any further.
